Do you see what I see? Our seeds are sprouting!! Yippee!! I'm pretty sure this is our Broccoli. It is so much fun to share this with Natalie. I can always count on her to jump up and down and clap with me as we notice growth in our little seed pots.

We are so thankful for our friend at church who helped dig up the backyard for our garden. We are also incredibly grateful for understanding landlords who let us dig up the backyard.

I took these pictures from our upstairs window, to help you get the scope of what we are getting ourselves in to. Now as a first time gardener, I'm a bit intimidated, but thankfully we have some awesome mentors to hold our hand through this process.

I would like to use this page to show the progress of our first garden and share the things that we learn.  Living on two part-time salaries, has forced us to try new things to save our family money.  I never would have tackled a garden this year if it wasn't for our awesome mentors (and very understanding landlords who have let us dig up the back yard.) They have encouraged us, shared tons of knowledge, and been patient with our lack there of. Up to this point, I would have considered myself to have a black thumb, so this will definitely be an adventure.

"I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment; thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins. I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw: A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest-and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man."
