"The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."
Proverbs 14:1
I am a stay-at-home mom to my beautiful 2-year daughter, Natalie, and my spunky 8-month old son, Jadon and wife to my adoring husband, Seth. He is a pastor at First Baptist Church of Joy and also works at the local YMCA part-time.
My husband and I didn’t get married until we were 30 and both dreamed of being parents for so long, that we were incredibly thankful (and a bit shocked) when just shy of 3 months after we got married, we found out we were expecting. Our daughter was born one month before our one-year anniversary.
At the time I was working at a Bank and LOVED what I did and the people I worked with, but it tore at my heart that I couldn’t be home with Natalie. My whole life I’d dreamed of being a stay-at-home mom. So, after reading Dave Ramsey’s book “Total Money Makeover”, Seth and I decided to make my dream a reality. We committed to a budget, built an emergency fund, sold our condo, started renting, and paid off all our debt.
Just seven months later, I handed in my letter of resignation to my employer of 15 years. A couple weeks after I turned in my notice, we found out we were expecting our second child. It has definitely been an exciting and emotional 3-1/2 years!
Nothing truly prepares you for the joys and stress of being a stay-at-home mom and a pastor’s wife. I know that God has ordained us for His service. I don’t claim to be an expert on matters of the home or in raising children. I’m just a woman trying to figure out how to best serve God and my family with the talents that He has given me. My prayer is that this blog can offer you comfort, encouragement and bring you closer to the Lord.
